1Broke after ten minutes in a pool!
By TB
Purchased the paddle from Amazon in January never had the chance to use it until end of April. After about ten minutes of easy use in a pool it snapped right below the upper shaft. I contacted Amazon and was advised it was out of it's 30 day return window and they won't take it back. She gave me a 1 800 number for solstice and they don't care enough to answer the phone. I will cut the paddle down, re-epoxy the locking mechanism and give it to my 6 year old and see if she can snap it! I might use the paddle blade to slap myself in the face for not buying local in the first place too.

1terrible

Shame there weren't any reviews when I purchased this Solstice 3-piece of crap.
Mine broke on my third trip out on the lake. No major swell or current to speak of - just sculling around.
Broke right above the blade, blade sunk to the bottom of Grand Traverse Bay, now I have a carbon fiber stick.
Awesome...

1Carbon fiber, but very brittle.
By Steve Michalski
I did better than the other guy I just read. My 3-piece Carbon Fiber Paddle lasted 15 miles on a lake, then snapped when I had to fight the wind for a minute. Blade was so small, I was making swirlies all the time I was using it anyways, so I would have replaced it anyways, but now it's basically junk. Too much money for terrible performance. What a mistake.

Should have stuck to my preference for a heavy duty rafting paddle. Last one of those I had I had lasted me over 10 years.
